Artist Biography

Sharon Krinsky is a New York-based artist who began drawing and painting in
childhood and has never lost her passion for making art and discovering new
techniques and materials. In addition to painting, she works with collage and
assemblage, printmaking, and handmade books, and often combines a variety of
media in one piece. After many years of concentrating on imaginary worlds, she
has recently reignited her practice in life drawing and portrait painting. One of
her current goals is to create portraits that are abstract yet able to visually
express real aspects of someone’s personality.

Sharon has a BA in Fine Arts from Queens College and a Master’s degree in
Information and Library Science from Pratt Institute. She has studied at the New
York School of the Arts and Omega Institute and taken numerous workshops,
including traveling to Ireland for printmaking and to Mexico for collage. She has
exhibited extensively in galleries and alternative spaces in New York and
Pennsylvania as well as virtually. In addition, she writes poetry, which has been
published in several literary magazines and most notably in the Best American
Poetry book series. Combining her love for art and poetry, she recently
completed a series of collages that illustrate her prose poem, “Mystery Stories.”

Sharon is a Signature member of the National Association of Women Artists
(NAWA) and was the recipient of an award for her watercolor in the 2023 NAWA
134 th Annual Members Exhibition and for her collage in the 2021 NAWA Winter
Small Works Exhibit. As a member of the National Collage Society, one of her
pieces was selected for inclusion in the 2020 NCS calendar, and she won an
award for her entry in the 2015 NCS Postcard show. She was recently juried into
membership in the Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors and is a
member of the West Side Arts Coalition.
